Hello, hello, is there anybody out there? 😁

It’s been quite a while since we released our last devlog or have given you any updates about Passing By. We’re sorry for the long radio silence and are finally back with a rather big update!

Between an exhausting summer and several team members finishing their master’s degree, all of us have been quite busy since the end of Gamescom. However, we wanted to give you one important and final update before 2022 comes to a close: we are pulling the plug.

All good things must come to an end

Yes, you read that right: we have decided to shut down this itch.io page. But what exactly does that mean for you and for Passing By?

For now, we’d like to inform all of you, that the current prototype version of Passing By will be taken down on Saturday, 31st December 2022 at 12 P.M. (CET).

If you wish to download the current version of the game so you can continue playing, please do so before said date. Afterwards, you will no longer be able to download Passing By from itch.io or anywhere else!

Credit where credit is due

While the download will no longer be accessible, we are going to leave the itch.io page online for as long as possible.

We owe this to all the voluntary translators, who invested a lot of time and work to make Passing By accessible in as many languages as possible. Our translators have been informed of this decision and we hope to give all of them at least some credit by mentioning their names here and linking them to the project.

This decision was a hard one for the team, but at the moment, we feel that taking the prototype offline is the most reasonable course of action for us and the future of Passing By given the things on the horizon…

The show must go on

Speaking of the future: we are still working on Passing By - A Tailwind Journey. Development of the game has picked up pace with the start of this December, and we are steadily working our way towards a bigger, more extensive version which we plan to release on Steam eventually - we will let you know once things become clearer for us ourselves.

Until then, however, we’ve decided to dedicate all of our working power to developing the game and won’t be publishing any further devlogs in the foreseeable future, excluding major updates concerning the development process and the announcement of a release date.

Last but not least, all that remains is to thank our community here on itch.io.

When we launched Passing By on itch.io in the midst of a pandemic over two years ago, we were overwhelmed by all the support, positive feedback, and kind words you had for us and our game. Without this support, we wouldn’t have been able to get to the point where we are now: having founded our own indie studio, merrily working on a bigger and better version of the game.

Thank all of you for your loyalty and support for Curly in these past years, and for being the burner in our team’s balloon and the west wind in our back.

Rest assured: Passing By WILL be back - stay tuned. Until then: travel safely, fellow aeronauts!
